Al Liwan Restaurant

LOCATION: DOHA, QATAR
USE: FOOD & BEVERAGE
SCOPE: INTERNAL LIGHTING DESIGN

Al Liwan restaurant was conceived with the purpose of providing a dining experience in a modern rendition of an aristocratic Arabic house. An upscale and inviting atmosphere is seen with the use of a refined palette of warm materials. The open kitchen averts the typical commercial look and dons a charm of a residential kitchen. The feature wrought iron bakery which sits centrally fills the space with a tempting rich aroma of freshly baked goods.

This home inspired restaurant is illuminated with a gentle play on light. Dining areas are generally illuminated with a combination of downlights focused on tables and decorative pieces, adding an additional dimension to the lighting scheme.

The open kitchen has suspended decorative lamps illuminating the counter, to attract the attention of guests to the displayed items. Vertical surfaces were illuminated to accentuate the displayed works, while concealed lighting within the joinery brings out the texture and colors on the food. This, combined with the mouth-watering smell of freshly baked bread, makes the outlet’s experience an unforgettable one.
